Fishing report week of June 6-13, 2015

Fishing report week of June 6-13, 2015

What a week of fishing on Wabaskang Lake it was! Outstanding walleye and pike fishing, excellent smallmouth bass and perch fishing and even a lake trout still caught above the Hobson Falls. Great multi-species fishing at it’s finest. Everyone in camp was a returning veteran ranging from our rookie groups of about 7 years withContinue Reading

Fishing report- week of May 30-June 6

As might be expected for the first week of June, the fishing was excellent for the week overall. Lots of fish, a nice mix of big fish with many groups saying they never caught so many 18-22″ walleye here, and fish spread out among many places across the north end of Wabby. I’m sure theContinue Reading

Outstanding second week!

My apologies in advance for not getting to this sooner. Something about a 3 day trip home to northern Indiana (5 with travel days), tends to make me fall even further behind. Well worth the brief time away from camp as I was home to see our oldest daughter Megan graduate high school and toContinue Reading

Sport show season about to start

Hi all, Well the 2015 sportshow season is about to kick off for us as we will be heading to Kansas City next week for the first show of our season. As always, we are anxious to get out on the road and talk about camp and the great fishing and great experience we offerContinue Reading

New website is up and Fall update

Hi all, well it has certainly been a busy fall this year. It actually started before leaving camp, as Milissa’s mother (Ruby) passed away unexpectedly during the last week of the season. This resulted in a quick 48 hour trip back home to Indiana for the services, only to return to camp to finish theContinue Reading

Ice Out and Getting Ready to fish

In what may very likely be the earliest ice out in recorded history, the ice went out on Wabaskang about April 14th! Although no one has a crystal ball and can predict how this will impact the fishing for the season, I will take a moment to share some of my thoughts. First, the walleyeContinue Reading

Priceless! That’s what good fishing is…

The smile on a 13 year old boys face who loves the sport of fishing making his first trip to Canada. Ken Wieczorek and his son Hunter along with 6 other relatives and friends including Dan Sr. and Jr. who drove 1,650 miles from North Carolina to be here, were guests of camp this week.Continue Reading

Both Sides Now-Judy Collins view of clouds

These were the coolest looking clouds I think I have ever seen and reminded me of the immortal Judy Collins tune…. Bows and flows of angel hair and ice cream castles in the air And feather canyons everywhere, I’ve looked at clouds that way But now they only block the sun they rain and snowContinue Reading

Fishing Canada-Young at heart

We were fortunate enough again this year to be hosts to Pete Paruch’s family from the St. Joseph, Michigan area. I forgot to ask Pete how many years in camp this was for the family but let’s just say this “wasn’t their first rodeo.” Pete was joined by his two sons Ryan and Jason alongContinue Reading

Peffley's Wilderness Camp is a family owned and operated camp. Dave has been fishing Wabaskang Lake for over 25 years and was previously a guest of this camp for 12 years prior to purchasing the camp in 2005. I am a proud supporter of our military and offer a nice discount during the month of July to our guests who have also served. I have three daughters ranging in ages from 16-21 who spend much of their summer with us in camp and have totally embraced the wilderness experience we offer. They have for years referred to it as the "best summer experience ever".

While rarely necessary on our lake, because I do have a very good working knowledge on how and where to fish on Wabaskang Lake and our portage waters, I will guide groups if asked to. Otherwise, I am always happy to share information with our guests and provide them well marked lake maps so they can start catching fish their first day in camp.

I pride myself on running a very clean and well managed camp with your satisfaction our top priority. Many guests who have fished from this camp for over 20 years, and several more that have fished here for over 30 years and even some over 40 years.
